The Eagle's Nest, An Alternate 1812 French Invasion Of Russia TL

I know what an oxymoron is but I never thought you could use it this way.

    Isn't cacophony more appropriated?

Is Murat really the most likely second-in-command?

What if WWI ended in 1916 with a status quo ante bellum?

Without WW1 this Revolution will never succeed, EVER. Nicky didn't use the war that way, he entered in the war for geopolitical reasons not really because he cared about his popularity (the guy legitimately thought the Russians loved adored him). You are right that the war at the beginning saw...

How would the American civil war have played out if the North didn't have as much of a numerical advantage and there was no emancipation proclamation?

AFAIK the blockade imposed on the South by the North was what prevented other countries from buying it.

Germany wins WWI: How would the post war situation in it's eastern puppet states be like?

Certainly being exploited by the Germans is enough to make it pass from, at the very least, a strong movement from autonomy to an independence movement from the German occupier, and IMHO there was a strong nationalist movement in Ukraine.

What if WWI ended in 1916 with a status quo ante bellum?

Once Karl takes power a peace deal is possible and he was willing to even make concessions to guarantee peace but the other powers are not willing to do so. ?? What do you mean by "sees fighting an outside enemy as a way to not have to have an internal fight"?

How would the American civil war have played out if the North didn't have as much of a numerical advantage and there was no emancipation proclamation?

I think the US would still win, the South is starving due to the blockade and is struggling to maintain the war effort but it would be much more difficult to win if the South had the population of the North. However I don't understand why Lincoln wouldn't proclaim the emancipation proclamation.

What if Pepin son of Pepin the short and Betrada of laon lives

Pretty sure there are other persons willing to "help" him.

What if Lenin does not come up with national self-determination?

Saying that it would be impossible to hold together the former RE if the minorities weren't given autonomy is an exaggeration.

What if Pepin son of Pepin the short and Betrada of laon lives

Just because he's kid doesn't mean he doesn't have rights to succession, his brothers could eliminate him if they play their cards right but it also depends on how friendly are relations between the two. Pepin will probably let him succeed, succession law divided the inheritance amongst all...

What if Pepin son of Pepin the short and Betrada of laon lives

Since the succession law divided the inheritance among all sons, yes the empire gets divided. I could certainly see them trying to fight each other to get each other's territory.

Norman Guiscard invades Fatimid Egypt instead of Byzantine Empire

Byzantium isn't going to take over Egypt anytime soon, after the initial Arab invasions they never went much further than Antioch, let alone Egypt. And the ERE had some troubles with the Seljuks and Normans at that point so it's very doubtful they can do anything.

Norman Guiscard invades Fatimid Egypt instead of Byzantine Empire

Why don't we invade North Italy? It's rich and theoretically not impossible we succeed. Why not invade the ERE? It's rich and up until this point has proven itself to be weak. Really this kind of argument can apply itself to a lot of places other than Egypt and they're easier to invade.

Consequences of the collapse of the Soviet Union for the Pacific War

The US was not ready to take a million casualties to invade Japan, which is why they didn't IOTL and preferred sending nukes, asking the Soviets to invade Manchuria and watching Japan starve until surrender. Anyways the Germans might have less troops at the beginning but in the unprobeable case...

Norman Guiscard invades Fatimid Egypt instead of Byzantine Empire

It makes it significantly harder than if you were invading your neighbour. Egypt is on the other side of the Mediterranean, I don't see why the Normans would plan to go navally invade it just because. The Normans didn't seem to have plans to do invade Egypt, for the matter there are several...

for WW3 stories: the Soviet dilemna about... French nuclear weapon or "Why the Rhine was the limit"

If the Soviets were to try to get something "substantial" they would risk nuclear apocalypse with the US. Most of West Germany is more than enough to get a favorable peace deal, which is all you can hope for in WW3.

    Alternate Lebensraums

It's not exactly the same thing as Lebensraum, Lebensraum wanted to eliminate all persons living in the East and replace them with Germans; the Pan-[ethnic group] considers that all these people are very similar and that they should live in one nation, not that they should be replaced. Those who...

Norman Guiscard invades Fatimid Egypt instead of Byzantine Empire

Didn't fail because of that but fighting hundreds of miles away from your bases has some issues. And you will notice the Fifth Crusade has bases nearby unlike the Normans here. Why is going on land arduous? Striking at Egypt from Sicily is not very likely to be the Normans' first objective.
