NFL DIVISIONAL ROUND PLAYOFF SATURDAY RECAP RAIDERS SHOCK COLTS, PACKERS CANT HANDLE THE FALCONS
NFL. COM
Despite being 2nd seed and coming up a 1st round pick the Raiders were still seen as quite the underdog against the Colts in this battle of the Manning brothers Divisional game.

This time the rookie brother Eli Manning was able to get his team going at the right time. MVP Peyton and the Colts did put up a fight however it was the highest rated defense in the league and a punt return for a touchdown by 7th Round rookie Wes Welker who signed with the team a few days before the start of the season after being cut right after the preseason by the team who originally drafted him the Denver Broncos that helped seal the deal for the Raiders.

The game could have gone Indianapolis’s way but a Dominic Rhodes fumble forced by Ted Washington helped the Raiders go on a drive to make erase the one possession deficit the Colts had and gave us the final score of the game 38-28 as the Raiders set to take on either New England or San Diego for a trip to Super Bowl 39

In the NFC the Packers stood no chance against Vick and the Falcons in a 31-14 victory. Michael Vick ran and threw all over the defense of the Packers while likely Defensive Rookie of the Year Sean Taylor capitalized right away early on in the game with a interception in the first drive of the game which almost ended with 6 points.

CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP SUNDAY RECAP: PATRIOTS AND FALCONS END UP PUNCHING THEIR TICKETS TO SUPER BOWL 39
ESPN .COM

Well we finally have a matchup aligned for Super Bowl 39 and for the 3rd time in the last 4 years the New England Patriots will be representing the AFC in the Super Bowl while only the 2nd time in franchise history the Atlanta Falcons will be representing the NFC in the Super Bowl.

Both Conference Championship games went down to the wire as first off in the NFC game a showdown between Vick and McNabb lived up to the hype.

Right out of the games both teams scored a touchdown on their first possessions of the game stating off with a McNabb touchdown pass to Chad Lewis then the Falcons answered back with a Vick pass to rookie Patrick Clayton.

At 24-21 Eagles lead going into halftime Vick in the 2nd half was able to find ways to dissect the highly alerted Eagles defense with his passing game however McNabb was able to the same thing with the Falcons defense.

However in a drive stating right after the 2 minute warning the Eagles were looking like they were on a drive that would finally make them punch their ticket to the Super Bowl but however a 3rd and 10 catch by Terrell Owens that would have put the Eagles in the perfect range for a David Akers game winning field goal was called back due to Offensive holding by offensive lineman Tra Thomas.

The Eagles were forced to punt the ball on that driving causing the Falcons to get one last shot with the ball with 28 seconds left in regulation. That holding penalty would end up being costly as Michael Vick would put up a play that will go out down in Atlanta Sports history as with 10 seconds at midfield Vick would find midseason Ashley Lelie on a midfield heave as Lelie was able to grab it and was able to get out of bounds with 5 seconds left at the Eagles 30 yard line.

And then Jay Feely would launch a kick that would send the Falcons to their 2nd ever Super Bowl!
The Eagles would unfortunately once again suffer a massive heart breaking loss in the NFC Championship game again.

In the AFC Championship Game it was Brady vs Offensive Rookie Of The Year Eli Manning responding back to back with touchdowns as the game going into the half was 28-28

However at the end of the day the game changer was the experienced defensive line of the New England Patriots who were able to force Eli to throw a ball intercepted by Ty Law that would led to a field goal that would send a 38-38 game to overtime. Unfortunately for the Raiders that would be the last time they would have the ball this season as the next drive Tom Brady would drive down the field and then on a 3rd and 10 play at the Oakland 28 Brady would find David Patten for a game winning and Super Bowl clinching touchdown catch for a 44-38 victory to punch the 3rd Super Bowl in the last 4 seasons for the Patriots.

February 6th 2005 Super Bowl 39 the Atlanta Falcons and New England Patriots will fight for the Lombardi trophy. Will it be the 2nd straight for the Patriots or will it be the first time for the Falcons? Let the talk and hype begin!
